Back cover reads:
"It would be difficult to find
another railway with such contrast as the Hastings to Charing Cross line.
The southern half of our 62 mile trip takes us through rural East Sussex and Kent. For the first couple of miles we are on the South Coast line towards Brighton. At Bopeep Junction we turn due north for Battle, Etchingham and Tunbridge Wells.
Then, at Tonbridge, we join the busy main line from Ashford, Dover and Folkestone. Gradually we enter Greater London's commuter belt and at Orpington our two tracks multiply to four - a taste of things to come!
After London Bridge and Waterloo East, we cross the River Thames and enter the Capital's most central main line terminus - Charing Cross.
This film was produced in the 1980s soon after electrification and the singling of many of the tunnels by BR. The slam-door trains were filmed in the much lamented 1066 "Jaffa Cake" livery. The fascinating history of the line was researched by H.C.Bassett, a life-long employee of the Southern."
The 1066 DC, A Driver's Eye View DVD is priced at £19.95 (P&P free) and is also available from our sales stand priced at £19.95. Running time: 90 minutes
