081CEP 081 at Eastbourne. 21/7/92. Taken after being withdrawn and here in departmental service, the next use for 7153 (the last phase one CEP) would be the high speed track recording train utilising both of its motor coaches. Here 081 has lost its TBCK 70345 to 4CEP 1547; the reason for withdrawal from passenger service. It was only its Driving Motor Seconds that were renumbered in the departmental scheme; DB977397 (ex. 61388) nearest buffer stops and DB977398 (ex.61389). Photo courtesy of R.Coombes.

081081's interior decor was more conservative with wood grain instead of orange formica and blue sections at cantrail level as seen inside 61388. Other differences included the window frames and cab controls. 9/6/93.

0819/6/93. Trailer second S 70302 had all compartments removed on refurbishment. Although it and TBCK 70345 still survive at Coventry Railway Centre, unfortunately the unique motor coaches were scrapped by M.C Metals.
